The Triangle, NC chapter of the William & Mary Alumni Association had a cookout today, bringing together alumni from years past as well as current students and rising freshmen from the area. The host of the party, Joe Carlin, asked if I wanted to screen “The Bull” to my fellow alumni and I eagerly accepted the chance.

At one point one of the alum’s 2-year old walks into the room and says “Wow” – I assume in response to the great visual composition.
A different experience than screening at the Charles Theatre, but still a heartfelt honor and just as nerve-wracking. These little screenings just remind you that film exhibition is more than just festivals and cineplexes, but can be events, house parties, underground meetings (if this was a censored political documentary), or historically even one person coming in off the street to peer into the magic of Edison’s Kinetoscope.
Before heading to the event I stopped by a restaurant to scout it out as a possible location for The Virgins and I believe it will work. So one location done – others are in various stages of being found or secured. Tomorrow morning I go with the DP to check out some roads and exteriors.
